As most of you know, we have been at The Chi Institute for some advanced training in acupuncture. Any visit to the Chi Institute refreshes the qi (chi). There is so much hope in holistic medicine and we are excited to be a part of that hope in
Birmingham. Knowing that we can offer drug free pain management to our furry patients makes our hearts happy.
Here is just one example of the benefits of drug free pain management:
A few weeks ago a client contacted us in regards to her aging kitty, Beau. He had started deteriorating fairly quickly. Beau had lost so much weight he was skin and bones and had become so
weak that he was falling over when he tried to walk. Her regular veterinarian was not able to offer much help or hope since the diagnostic tests were normal.
When we evaluated Beau, we found he was in significant pain. We also determined that he had a deep kidney imbalance which was the cause of his pain and muscle wasting. Because he was too painful to treat at the office,
we sent her home with our Rental Cold Laser unit and had her treat him twice daily for 1 week. At the next visit he was much improved and allowed me to treat him with acupuncture needles and herbs. His mom continued the laser treatments at home for another week. By the next recheck, Beau had started to act like his old self again. Just a few days ago, his mom said he was trotting and even trying to jump the baby gate! This report made
our week.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, we view pain as stagnation of qi (chi). When the qi is stagnated or stuck in an area for long, the stagnation blocks the flow of blood and this can be excruciatingly painful. Acupuncture, electrocupuncture and Cold Laser Therapy can be used to open the energy meridians to allow proper flow of qi (chi) and reduce pain. Not to mention, the insertion of needles will also
stimulate endorphins which can affect the body's response to pain at the level of the brain and spinal cord.
Seeing the benefits of pain management with the rental laser, we started researching other options for our clients. After speaking to many other clinicians who use this tool in their practice,we are pleased to announce the addition of the Assisi Loop.
