Dear Pet Parent,
It's that time of year! Unfortunately most of our local vet clinics will be sending out reminders for yearly vaccine boosters. Please do not fall prey to the fear that your pet's
vaccine is now expired.
In much research throughout the years, it has been discovered that initial puppy vaccines generally provide lifelong immunity in the majority of pets. By the time a pet may have a reduced antibody level that would warrant re-vaccination, he or she is generally in their geriatric years >10 or more and the vaccine itself would do more harm that good. Also, as our
pets mature, so do their immune systems. Therefore, the viruses, parvo and distemper, do not pose a threat to our adult pets.
I have clients bring in sick pets all the time asking for vaccines. They think vaccines are medicine. 1 or 2 vaccines in a lifetime is ok but anymore than that can actually make your pets sicker. Repeat vaccines actually suppress the thyroid for up to 45 days after vaccination. This
not only lower the body's natural immune system, putting them at greater risk for infections and disease but overtime causes severe inflammation throughout the body resulting in arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, skin allergies, autoimmune diseases and even cancer.
Please, take note to NEVER EVER get vaccines while your pet is not feeling well!
And instead of yearly vaccines, ask us about titer
testing. This test measures your pet's antibody levels and will provide proof that they are indeed protected.
Please say NO to yearly vaccines and call us at (205) 637-6653 to schedule an appointment for your pet.
Be well,
